"In regards to wood stoves, etc., we have received several e-mails and even a few phone calls regarding our  Lil'House outdoor wood furnace.  We've had this furnace since the fall of 1998, and it still does a great job.  We have had to replace the cold air return vent twice, but that is because both the German shepards we had loeved to lay on the vent and stay warm but tore the vents up in the process (they are talking about the cold air return ductwork).  "We are now going into our 6th winter using the Lil'House Outdoor Wood Furnace.  They are rated for 2400 square feet.  Our  home is a 2-story farmhouse at 2600 square feet, plus a full basement and attic.  For the most part, the Lil'Housekeeps our big house nice and warm.  We do have backup propane wall heaters, if they become necessay, and it is cold enought a few times that we run them in addition to the Lil"House.  In the last 5 years, though, we have only put propane in the tank twice and only filled it about half each time.  The wood furnace is still in wonderful shape, and it works wonderfully.  It is so easy to use and heats so well.  (2003)

Scott,
I thought an update on our testimonial was in order.  Our first Lil'House we bought in 1998 is still up and running.  This is 2006  so it is 8 years old.  But others may want to know that we have been so pleased with it that we have now bought 4 of them.  We have an intentional neighborhood Children and Family members etc.  And have placed 2 in other homes here,  I have on in my shop/office.  When we bought this place the mobile we lin had on outdoor wood furnace.  But, I tell you it was not a Lil'House I cursed it all last winter.  Not this year as we just picked up another Lil'House yesterday.  Now to get Lil House's in the remaining 2 homes lol.  Thanks Scott!!  (July 2006)

Scott,
After 5 years we have to have our Lil'House rebuilt.  I has given us 5 winters of good service.  Even on the coldest days our house is warm throughout (no cold spots).  It is amazing to look out and see our Lil'House heater covered in snow and still keeping our house cozy.  We use way less wood than our neighbors with inside wood stoves and the mess stays outside.  Thanks for a great simple, efficient heater! Scott
Just fired up the lil house wood heater. I followed the vidio you provided for summer storage put everything back together and it is 72 degrees in my house and the good thing at little to no energy cost. Bought my heater last January I never had an electric bill over $95.00 for the remainder of the winter. My electric bill was costing me approx $250.00 per month before the little house and that was before it turned cold single digets. I attached my cold air return to my exsiting ductwork and I am pulling the warm air all thru the house. We are having mid to upper 30 degree rainy weather now and as i said before it is 72 degrees in my house. What i like about this heater is i can adjust the draft to keep the heater from running me out yet keep the temp at 72. I would recommend this heater to anyone looking to heat there home with an outside wood stove and looking for an affordable price yet highly efficent unit.
Thanks Scott

We bought our Lil'house furnace in 1994 and we love it!  We have recommended the little house furnace to everyone we know.  My son-in-law and daughter have bought one and now my son-in-law's father has one.  Scott  is very honest and reliable man to deal with.  I would recommend Scott and his little house furnace to everyone.

Hi Scott,
The stove installation went smooth, only a few hours, except for the concrete, ( we poured our own pad), and set it on 2 1/2 blocks for height like you said.  We only had to cut one houle in the wall for the duct bringing in the heat.  We brought the cold air return in a window in the basement.  Our old farmhouse has very little insulation and multiple leaky windows;  approx. 2000 sq.ft., the stove keeps us very comfortable on these cold evenings.  In fact, at times it is surprisingly too warm.  We burn a lot of pallet material, junk wood, as well as our trash, limbs and brush from the yard.  If we can pick it up it goes in the stove.  We share our loading duties twice a day, sometimes 3 when the temperature drops and the wind is blowing.  We used $1200 dollars worth of LP gas in the house last year and were not nearly as warm as our new Lil'House has kept us.  We haven't turned the gas on this year at all.  We have a wood stove now inside the garage (shop), but like the peace of mind having the fire outside.  Please order us another left hand as soon as possible.  See you soon, your WARM hillbilly friends,

Dear Scott:
I want you to know that I am very pleased with my outside wood heater and am happy that I made the purchase.  Availability of firewood was not my problem, spending a lot of money on a outside wood heater that warmed the water via water pipes and etc. was.  This unit is great in my 1500 square foot machine shop.
Thanks again Scott.

Scott,   I am so glad I bought a lil' house heater from you last fall(2007). I usually spend about $3000 a winter on propane. I was able to buy the heater and firewood and still save about $1000 dollars. Now this year I'm cutting my own wood and my heater has already paid for itself so all I'm going to be out is my time cutting wood. My house is 2200 square feet and the heater keeps it very warm, sometimes even too warm before I figured out how much wood to put in it. It was around 25 degrees one day and I had it over 90 degrees in the house. I had a big smile on my face when I had to go outside to cool down. Thanks for all your help and for saving me a lot of money. J Vowels   Cecilia, Kentucky 10/2008

Just to let you know that my heater came and I have it all installed. It was 45 degrees rainy and damp last night, I put 4 medium pieces of wood in, closed the draft to almost shut at 8:00 pm. At 9:00 pm I opened the house door to get the temperature down to 79 degrees. Got up at 6:00 am, stirred the ashes up and thru in 2 small pieces, have the door open again. The furnace hasn't dared try to come on!
I LOVE THIS THING!! If anybody thinks about putting a wood stove in the house, they're CRAZY. If you have anyone interested in one of your stoves up here, let me know and I would be glad to meet them and show it off. I'll send pictures when I get a few minutes.

Hi Scott,

It has been two years since we first spoke. I purchase my heater for the 2007/2008 season. I couldn’t do without this unit. I feel compelled to write in order to lend credibility not only to the unit but to you.

For anyone looking at this unit that is skeptical you shouldn’t be. This little heater really is as simple as it looks but it works.

To Scott’s credit he wants to talk to his perspective customers before he sells a unit. I believe this to be a very smart approach. When I first contacted Scott I had a few questions that I just wanted to run by him and he was great. I feel that we hit it off immediately and I had the confidence that I felt necessary to make the purchase.

This is the easiest little thing to set up also. I am heating a 2800 Sq Ft eight room colonial with it and I laugh at the oil company every time I put another piece of wood in it.

I have a separate oil fired hot water heater so I don’t need my furnace for hot water. My furnace has not run in two years, one of the benefits of this is not listening to it , the house is so quiet now.

I have a forced hot air system so this little heater was perfect.

I have actually tied in to the cold air return down in the cellar. I took all of the cold air return ducts in the half of the house that the heat blows into and stuffed towels in them so as to draw from the opposite side of the house. You can actually feel the heat make its way from one end to the other when you first start up.

Our house is actually heated more uniformly now than when the furnace was doing the job.

Thank you for representing such a worthy product, I’m sure I will be talking with you in the future.

Scott,
I remembered the testimonial page on your website and thought I'd let you know that we can join the group of happy customers.  Before this year our heating bills were over $600 a month and we weren't even warm.  This winter our neighbors have seen their bills go up over a $1000 a month.  I can now keep my 2000 sq ft house warm and it is more than affordable!  Last month (a cold one in Indiana) our gas bill was $50.  I want to thank you and your company for giving us the gift of affordable heat.  With this stove we can afford for my wife to stay home with our little girl. Plus, I have gotten a lot of free exercise cutting wood.  Who needs a fitness club when you have a chainsaw and an axe? :)
I will have to admit it has been a learning experience having a chimney that extends 20 ft in the air.  After I got the routine right, we have kept it clean and burning hot.
Thanks again and God bless!

Hello Scott,

I wanted to share my opinion of the Little House heater. I wanted to use it the full winter before I sent you my testimonial. I read and studied enough about it that it sounded like a good idea. I was raised on wood heat and know there is nothing better on a cold winter night, however, I live a slightly different life than my parents did. Meaning my wife and I both work so no one is home during the day to load the stove. I had a would furnace before I had the little house heater and liked it but it would only hold fire for 7 or 8 hours. This was a problem for me since there are more days than not that I put in 10 or more hours at work only to find the fire was out when I got home and the propane had kicked on burning money by the fist fulls.  I had looked the Little House Heater over on the web site and talked to Scott and like I said earlier it sounded good, but I'm from Missouri the show me state. The nice farmer (Scott) convinced me I needed one. In an odd way! No fancy sales pitch, No this ones better than the other guys, No pushy showroom nonsense that you run into at the stores. It was more of the kind of thing you would run into buying one from your Dad or something. He wanted to make sure it would work for me and was the best thing to heat the stile of house I own. He's one of a kind and I mean that in a good way. You go to buy a stove expecting the normal car salesmen attitude and leave there feeling like you made a new friend. As for the Little House heater its self WOW! I know it sounds good but in my opinion if anything he actually under sold it. Amazing! I was warm all winter, burned absolutely no propane and burned what most people consider scrub wood the stuff most people wouldn't even bother to pick up. I loaded it every 12 to 14 hours when it was cold and there was some of the mild days I went close to 30 hours and still had plenty of coals left to stoke it up and have a nice fire that night. Economically yes, time saver yes, better for the environment yes honestly I don't have one bad thing
to say about Scott or the product he sells. I plan to tell everyone I talk to how much I enjoy my Little House wood heater and Scott I hope you will post this on his site so everyone can read what I think of this product. I am a guy with a family and bills like most of America just trying to make it. I paid less or about the same for the heater as what I would have spent to fill my propane just one time. I will save that money year after year. So thank you Mr. Bradley I am glad I have you as a friend and I am glad I have a Little House wood heater.

                                                                                                             Sincerely,
                                                                                                                      David Long  (Missouri

More comments to come!

If you have a heater and would like to write a testimonial to be put on my page, by all means do it.

I will post it exactly as you write it, without changing the wording.  Scott.

Remember these are all real people that have been nice enough to take the time to write back to me after they purchased a Lil'House heater.  If you have or are purchasing a heater if you would write a testimonial for me to add to this page, that would be super.  I know we are all busy, but these help others just like they did you when you were looking at the information about the Lil'House.
Thanks
Scott

A photo sent in to me a few years ago, notice the snow on the heater with fire going!

Scott, Here is a testamonial:
We have had our stove for 10 years and have relied on it to heat our entire house. We have a propane heater in the utility room, and an electric heater in the bathroom, but rarely turn them on unless the temperature drops below zero. We have been satisfied with our stove and are thinking about getting another one to heat the milk barn. We would recommend a Little House heater to anyone. (2003)

Scott,
This will be the third year I have been using my outside wood heater, and I have only used three cords of wood both years. I heat 1200 sq. ft. downstairs and 800 sq. ft. upstairs. I only have one fresh air return, and it is upstairs, so it pulls the heat upstairs, and circulates the heat throughout our house. I have propane backup heat, and it virtually never kicks on unless it gets below zero. I have been well satisfied with this product. Thank you,

Scott,
Well, we are up and running with our new heater.  It was fairly quick and
easy to install.  We've been telling a lot of our friends about it.  It hasn't
been real cold yet but it has been below freezing a couple nights and we've
stayed nice and toasty - and giving the house furnace a break - and saving the
$2+/gallon kerosene.  We are really glad that we found your website and decided
to make this purchase.  You've been very helpful and patient with any questions
that we had.  I'll keep you posted on how we do when the temp dips below 0,
it won't be long!  Thanks a lot.

We have been very pleased with the heater.  There were times that it was so warm that we opened windows!! I loved it but it was a little much for hubby <grin>.  There were very few times that we needed the furnace to run but when it was needed, it was REALLY cold outside.  Definitely worth having if you have an ample supply of firewood available.

Scott,
Just after I purchased my furnace unit.   It snowed and we had 6 to
8 inches of snow on top the unit, and it was keeping the house about 60 to
65 degrees.  We have almost a 2600 sq. ft farm house that is over 100 years
old.  During this time it was anywhere from 16 degrees to -9 degrees.  Then
shortly after this it was around 25 degrees and it was keeping it around 68
to 72 degrees.  This heater is wonderful unit very easy to install and saves
you a ton of money in heating expenses.  Thank You Scott for all your help.

I own 1 little house heater for 15 years.  About 3 or 4 years back, my wife had heart valve replaced ,doing good now, I  didn't get to take care of it as well as I should have. It would be getting bad (outside) I would go to work and fill stove up 12 hr later, I fill stove up again it can be 0F outside, inside 90F this stove really works. Told my work mates about it, 3 bought one I have a 2 story house .                     Eugene Abbott   Salem Mo.    (Sept. 2005)

We purchased our lil house wood heater in Jan. 1994.  It was simple to install.  It keeps our house toasty warm.  The only thing inside the house is warm air.  All the wood and ashes are outside.  In April 2005, the drum was rusted out in one spot.  I called Scott Bradley, Ozark, Mo.  and he arranged with the factory  to repair in a very short time span.  We are truly pleased with Scott and the factory with the service we received.  We would recommend this heater to anyone.

I purchased my heater in 1992 and have been very satisfied with it. Last year I had to replace the blower motor until then I have had no problem with the heater. This year I had the unit rebuilt after 13 years. The factory did an excellent job!  They replaced  all the bolts with new ones I was really impressed with the attention to details I highly recommend everyone I know to purchase this heater if they want to save money and stay very warm.  I delivered the heater to Scott's on Sunday and pick it up the following Friday. The customer service was excellent at both ends!   Thanks Scott for a great product and excellent customer service.

Dear Scott
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.  I have water on the
brain and when it is cold; My memory slips on the ice.
I have the new heater installed and it is working very well. The previous
heater lasted ten years and would probably still be going had a tree not
fallen on it and severely damaged it. I am very satisfied with the Lil
House Wood Heater and would and have recommended it to anyone.

Thanks again

Hi Scott,
The weather has been up and down. We've had some days that have been up
in the 50's and other days down in the 30's & 40's and down in the 20's
at night.  A few nights down in the teen's.  Overall the winter has been
milder than normal.  We've just had to supplement our heat in a few rooms
with small electric heaters when it is down in the teen's. The stove has
cut our gas bill this winter down to almost nothing.  We are mainly using
gas just for our water heater. I didn't have time to cut any wood for
this winter so I have just bought wood to burn but the cost of the wood
is still drastically less than what our gas bills would have been.

Scott,
I thought it was about time I let you know how the heater is doing since we have had it for a while now.   To say the least "we love it".  Our inside furnace has come on only 3 nights this winter and that was in December when we had -5 degrees those 3 nights. Considering our house is almost 2,000 square feet and a manufactured home at that that is not bad at all.  I estimate that the inside heat has cost us about 10 bucks this winter.  We could not be more pleased.  I wish we had bought a Lil'house a long time ago.

Scott,
I just wanted to drop you a line and give you a testimonial on my lil house heater and some new pics since I installed a 4' heat duct extention.
This will be the 3rd heating season using the lil house heater. It has well paid for itself in the past 2 years in the EXPENSIVE propane bills I didn't have. The first year I had my propane tank topped off after spring arrived and it only took $40. worth of propane to fill me back up. I have my gas furnace as a backup to the lil house heater and or when it warms up (too warm to run the lil house heater) we use it. With the lil house heater I can keep my house (2000 sq ft old farm house) warmer for less by burning wood. The lil house heater is a great heater. It is very affordable, simple to operate, the mess is all outside, no smoke smell in your house, insurance companys prefer you to have outside wood burners over inside, and really will burn over 12 hours without putting wood in it. I have went as long as 14-16 hours without putting wood in it. I cut my own wood so all I have in it is my time. Even if I had to purchase wood I would still save lots of $$$$. I have no problem at all keeping the temp in my house 75-80 F. Depending on the outside temp I have got crried away a time or two and put too much wood in and we had the windows open to let a little heat out :-)
Scott is great to deal with and so is the factory employees. Any questions I had Scott was only a phone call away with answers. Scott has been there and done that so I urge everyone to listen carefully and follow what Scott says when you have a question or don't know what to do.  We are VERY satisfied with our heater and would recommend it to others looking to stop lining the pockets of the petrolium companys and start saving $$$$.
As Scott says keep your chainsaw chain sharp. Get that wood cut ahead of time. Let it season.  Keep it DRY and warm up with wood heat.

Hi, had some time on my hands so I thought I would send you a note. I haven't burned wood in 30 years, after I talked to you before because I was having trouble getting heat I found out the wood I bought was seasoned for a month( to me all wood was created equal). I started burning dead trees I found like you suggested and there was a world of difference. When I moved in to this house there was a cord of wood down cellar that looked like it had been there 3 or 4 years, so I tried it tonight, right now its 80 in the house and 22 below outside.I should have paid a little more attention to your instructions.Even with the troubles I had to start with, I figured that without buying fuel oil, I will have paid for the stove and put $500.00 back into my pocket by spring. Scott,
I just thought I would drop you a note to let you know how much we are enjoying our wood heater we purchased from you last Sept.
We have burnt mostly slabs in the stove and some wood but mostly slabs.  We have been out less than 100.00 for wood to heat our house which is 5 bedrooms and rather large for a small stove.  On the very coldest nights we have ran some electric heaters as a back up but for the most part our house has been 70-75* all the time.
On the warmer days we actually have it so warm we have had to open a window and let some of the heat out.
I must say it has been really nice this winter to be so warm and not have to worry about propane prices.  We have not even lit our furnaces at all this year.  In the past we would have already spent nearly 2000.00 to heat our home.  So considering all that our wood heater has already partly paid for itself.
I would suggest anyone thinking of changing to wood heat consider a wood heater of this kind.  We have not been sorry and wish we would have done it long before.
Thanks again for all your help in getting the heater and I am telling anyone interested in wood heat to contact you for a heater.

Hey scott,

We have had the stove almost a year now and im very happy with it. When my girlfriend and i decided to fix-up up the pool-house(mobile home) on my family's farm we knew it was going to be hard to heat and afford oil heat, so we contacted scott and talked to him about what we wanted to do, he did not try and push anything on us. I purchased the stove and received it 3-4 weeks later, there was a problem when we received the stove, i contacted scott and he fixed this problem, i was very happy with how he treats his customers, the world would be a better place if there was more people like scott. So, on the the stove wow it works great, very easy install. It kept us very warm on some cold windy nights, i would load it at 8pm on a 15 degree night and wake up at 8am and its still the same temp as when we went to sleep, which was usually around 80 degrees. I'm very satisfied. Once you get the hang of the draft control you can keep ur home at exactly want you
want. I haven't had one problem with the stove, very easy and simple to operate.

Thanks allot scott

Last year during a major icestorm we used our Little House outside wood furnace.  The temperature outside was in the single digits, but inside was warm and toasty.  We were impressed with how easy it was to operate.  It was easy to install and wasn't a wood hog.  We like our outside wood furnace so well we are getting one for our daughter.

Scott,
My name is Terry Gardner and I purchased an outside woodheater from you back in August I believe.   I have to tell you that I was skeptical, in theory I figured that this would work but I thought that I would still have to use my multi-fuel pellet stove to help out, I was wrong.  Since I installed the stove I have since sold my pellet stove (as you predicted) and the worst problem I have is my house is too hot, November 25 and I have windows open (still learning the stove). My wife and kids love it because they dont have to wear winter clothes inside anymore.  I live in Michigan and it is starting to get cold, my propane company wants to remove my propane tank becaue I am not using enough propane (makes no sense, they would rather have no business than some) actually I am not using ANY propane other than my stove and oven and hot water.   The installation was a breeze.    Since the return of deer season (my favorite time of the year) I have ceased wood cutting for a few weeks but will resume soon, thanks to the emerald ash bore and dutch elm disease I  have years worth of standing dead trees, instant heat.      thanks again Scott for your honesty and  a great product, I wish I  would have purchased one of these years ago                 Terry Gardner      Armada Michigan

*****Update 9-23-10*****

Well I have one full winter under my belt with my stove up here in Michigan and I have to tell you this is a very effective way to save on heat bills. I figured to the nearest penny everthing I have into my woodcutting operation (not including chainsaws and splitters that i already own) and the cost of heating my 1680 sq ft house was 26 dollars a month.Every galllon of gas and oil for saws, woodsplitter and tractor, parts for saws, one splitting mall handle and tarps for my wood, stretched out from October 1 of 2009 to May 12 (yes we still burned wood into May). My propane company hates me and vice versa, I only burned 140 gallons of propane for the year and most of that was for my kitchen range and my hot water heater, I was using more than that a month for heat in the winter. I have a two story house and if anybody is interested, if you hook your cold air pipe into the back side of your cold air return duct for your furnace it will work just fine for evenly distributing the heat throughout the house. If the upstairs bedrooms get to warm just shut the door and the room cools off providing you have cold air return vents in the room, I put thermometers in every room and the upstairs is only 2-3 degrees hotter than the main floor. The stove is quite efficient and is easy to use, I try not to split much wood so it lasts longer and most everything I cut is at 16 inches so it is easy for my wife and kids to fill. Great stove, very effective and you are and outstanding person to deal with Thanks  Terry Gardner. 9-23-10.
